Snow Patrol must really love Toronto…they’ve been here a number of times in the past year and rumour has it that they’ll be returning again shortly. At this rate, it’s no wonder that Gary Lightbody had to have surgery for his voice! Not that I’m complaining…I love this band and would see them repeatedly (and have). The recent show at the Ricoh Coliseum was quite excellent. I wasn’t sure what to expect at such a large venue, but they really know how to put on a big show and filled the space well. Lightbody’s quick wit and banter really engaged the audience, too.

The lights for this show were quite intense…very U2 Elevation tour-like, with the LED string walls. Made shooting a bit tough, but I managed to get a few shots that I liked out of it.

Panic! At The Disco_4541

I was originally shooting Panic! at the Disco because Bloc Party was opening, and I’d planned to review their show. However, about a week before the show, Bloc Party had to cancel due to the drummer’s lung collapsing (good enough reason!). I was pretty disappointed, but decided to still shoot Panic, even though their music wasn’t my thing. To my surprise, they were pretty stunning to shoot. The light and backdrop were amazing and I really enjoyed it.

The music, however, wasn’t really my thing, but I had to review the show on Torontoist, so I decided it was probably best to get into a 16 year-old frame of mind (not hard to do, really) and review from that perspective. You can read it here, if you want.
